The International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN) and the International Energy Agency (IEA), in partnership with the European projects ELECTRA, Grid+Storage and ERA-Net Smart Grids Plus are organizing a one-day international Smart Grid Workshop on "Flexibility in Future Energy Systems" on 11 October, 2016, in Paris (FR).
Smart grids should accommodate the increasing share of variable renewable energy, address problems related to ageing infrastructure and the rapid growth of electrification in both developing and developed economies. In this context the workshop will focus on the increased need for flexibility in the energy system with the help of smart grids. The event will bring smart grid experts and stakeholders to discuss policy, regulatory, legislative and technical challenges that must be addressed to leverage the full potential of communications for the expansion of smartness and flexibility in energy systems.
The workshop is a great opportunity to discuss institutional changes on the way to flexible grids, the current state of such flexibility options and to learn more about best practices for implementation in specific situations.
