Synchrophasor technology for grid monitoring and analytics is recognised as a critical element in the modernisation of the electric power system. The North American Synchrophasor Initiative (NASPI) is partnering with the International Energy Agency’s International Smart Grid Action Network, Transmission & Distribution Annex 6 group, to organise the first International Synchrophasor Symposium that will take place on 22-24 March, 2016, in Atlanta, GA (US). This conference will bring together leaders and experts from around the world to discuss the current status of synchrophasor technology deployments.

The programme of the Symposium will include:

  • Keynote presentations from U.S. DOE, EPRI, NERC, IEA, and the host utility Southern Company
  • Invited presentations on several of the largest synchrophasor deployments worldwide
  • Panels on international technical interoperability standards, cascading outages, renewables integration, control room solutions, and distribution-level uses of synchrophasor technology.

You can find the agenda of the Symposium and further information about the logistics here.

The U.S. Department of Energy Office of Electric Delivery and Energy Reliability supports the management and research activities of NASPI and is a member of the IEA T&D Annex 6 International Smart Grid Action Network. US-DOE and IEA-ISGAN are sponsoring this Symposium along with the Electric Power Research Institute, IEEE-PES and CIGRE. Following the Symposium, the ISGAN T&D Annex 6 group will prepare a summary of international synchrophasor activities based on information shared during the Symposium.

On 22 March, 2016, the Symposium will feature an international synchrophasor trade show.

On 21 March, 2016, NASPI will host a technical workshop on synchrophasor data quality.
